Sky Sports report that a work permit has been granted for the Ghana international

Derek Boateng has been granted a work permit to enter England ahead of his long-awaited move to Fulham, according to Sky Sports News.

Martin Jol was heavily linked with the midfielder over the summer and it seemed that a move was barely moments away from being agreed. However, nothing actually went through thanks to what was believed to be the reluctance of his side, Dnipro, to sanction a sale.

In spite of this, Boateng has been used sparsely by the Ukrainian side and this has fuelled his desire to leave.

Fulham retained an interest in the player over the course of the season and have already spoken with him, while, in the meantime, securing a work permit.

However, Boateng has now flown out to South Africa in preparation for the African Cup of Nations with Ghana, meaning that, even if talks between Fulham and Dnipro are successful in terms of a fee, he may not be available until February.
