Martin Jol is said to be following the progress of Ipswich Town player Jay Emmanuel-Thomas with the intention of moving for the former Arsenal player over the summer.

Emmanuel-Thomas has impressed in Suffolk with his versatility - proving well adept at playing up front and on the wing - but his inconsistency over the course of a season has been worrying to manager Paul Jewell and fans alike.

The first half of his season didn't go quite as planned but his form has peaked of late with the former Wenger prodigee bagging his seventh goal of the season against Birmingham City on Tuesday night.

Speaking of his forward, Jewell said:"We have got to work on his fitness in the summer because he's dropping off at the end of the games.

"But it's his first full season of football and he'll be a better player for it next year. He's going to be a player, there is a lot more to come from him."
